Northwest Roots

Haniger's run deep in the Northwest. Francis "Walt" Haniger (Tacoma), a South Kitsap High (Port Orchard, Wa.) english teacher and football coach (58'-59') moved on to California after receiving a job offer from Los Altos High School (Los Altos ,Ca.)
In Sunnyvale, Walt and June (McShane) settled in to raise 10 kids. The oldest son of the "California Hanigers", Walt Haniger and his wife Judy, raised Jason and Mitch in Santa Clara, Ca. (a few miles away)
The Haniger clan often travelled to Tacoma in the summers of the 1960's and 70's to visit with northwest friends and relatives. Grand pa Walt passed in 1983 and June in 2008.
It's only fitting, Mitch Haniger return to his ancestral roots of the Seattle -Tacoma area. Perhaps it's divine? #truetotheblue from Portland to Port Townsend...the Haniger-McShane machine is revved up for 2017 and beyond!
